Biography and Awards

I am a social journalist and documentary filmmaker By vocation, I always wanted to tell life stories and write them in the press or narrate them on radio or television. That's why I studied journalism at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and spent the last year as Erasmus (fantastic experience, by the way) in Berlin, where I finished my degree. I fell in love with the city, an inexhaustible cultural well, I stayed for five years working in radio, German and Spanish television.

In 2000 I returned to Spain, moved to Madrid and found work at the now defunct Diario 16 in the society section and at the German press agency DPA. A year later they offered me a job on Ser in the program La Ventana, which at that time was broadcast from my city, Barcelona.

So, I decided to become a freelancer and dedicate myself almost exclusively to my topics: the life stories of anonymous heroes whose challenge is to survive the discrimination of any kind they suffer.

One of them is "YAGO", the short film awarded by EP3 and which is the basis of the documentary that I am finishing and which is co-produced by TV3. I have followed Iago's story for the last four years, from when he was just 11 to the 15-year-old he is now, when he has lengthened his legs and arms, his voice has changed and he has become a teenager with many concerns.

I have told many stories that have been read in various written media such as La Clave or La Vanguardia but have also been heard on the radio, on RNE, basically. "El Locutorio" has introduced us to hundreds of immigrants and received the Francesc Candell award in 2004.

Thanks to the program "Silenced Voices" - which is no longer broadcast and not by choice - I was awarded the 2006 King of Spain International Journalism Prize awarded by the EFE agency and the AECI. Now I live in Seville and continue as a freelancer.

Interviews

I have conducted several interviews on different programs on Radio Nacional España and in various media such as Inconformista Digital or Revista Mercurio.

'Welcome to Home' is a current affairs program on RTVE. In it, I have had the opportunity to talk with Txemi Kintana, Noemi Hernández and Ismael Alonso about my program in 'In first person', on RNE. During the interview, I shared with them the secrets and details behind my program. This experience had the production of Manuel Bonilla and the technical realization of Edu Torres.

Interview about one of the podcasts I direct, 'Letters for Freedom', a project carried out with Benigno Moreno that gives a voice to prisoners by writing letters during their sentence. This content is born from a workshop that gives a voice to prisoners who write letters during their sentence in a workshop given with the support of the NGO "Solidarios para el Desarrollo", where we seek to give a platform to these often forgotten voices.

In this interview I share my professional career from my beginnings to the creation of the program 'In first person'. I also talk about my other projects, 'Letters for Freedom' and 'Building Memory'. If you want to understand what social journalism is from the hand of a vocational and professional journalist, you cannot miss this interview.
